Tamara Newman – “I made Aliyah from Sydney two years ago. People often wonder – ‘there are quite a few Israelis that migrate to Australia because of the situation here, why did you go the opposite way?’ I have a simple answer for that – because I am a Zionist. Funny thing is, that is the same answer I give to people who wonder about my job. I am the Director of Resource Development at the Hotline for Refugees and Migrants. We aim to defend and further the rights of refugees and migrants and prevent human trafficking in Israel. Helping the foreigner is one of the basic commandments of our people, and working here for me is part of my Zionism.”
